When you try to upgrade Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services 2.0 to Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 then it display error message given bellow:
- Content database contains one or more than one orphaned list. It means the list could not have a parent Windows SharePoint Services 2.0 site.
- SharePoint content database contains one or more than one Windows SharePoint Services 2.0 sites which use an included path. As well, the included path is undefined on the server.
Method 1: Add an included path
- Examine the Upgrade.log file to decide the included path that is missing.
- To Add an include path follow the bellow given steps
- Click on Start, go to All Programs-> Administrative Tools, and then click on the SharePoint Central Administration.
- Click on the Configure virtual server settings under Virtual Server Configuration.
- From the list of Virtual Server page, click on that virtual server which you want to configure.
- On the Virtual Server Settings page, click on the Define managed paths under Virtual Server Management.
- Type path in the Path box present in the Add a New Path area.
- Now click on the included path, and after give the path type that you want in the Type box.
- After all click OK.
Method 2: Remove orphaned lists from the content database
Try to remove orphaned lists form the content database, by removing this file it is assumed that such error may get fixed. So after removing it try to upgrade your SharePoint service.
